CPAA 15th edition of Colours of Life 2019
This year CPAA has entered into their 15th edition of the Annual Art Show Colours of Life 2019.
Being a continuous participant I remember since very early days I have been showcasing my works in this fund raising charity art exhibition. Now it has been a steady involvement with the organisation.
CPAA, Cancer Patients Aids Association, one of the largest cancer NGO’s of India which has always won respect over the years for influencing people’s life in a positive and healthy way. Their efforts over time for the annual art exhibition of paintings has become successful in raising funds for underprivileged children and teaching them to fight against cancer by providing enough awareness and knowledge in it.
‘Colours of Life’ has now become one of the known art shows in Mumbai which includes paintings of over 100 eminent contemporary, emerging and master artists. Like each year this year too the paintings are of various styles along with the vast series of subjects and mediums which make this potential collection inevitable.

Horse in Motion VI | Acrylic on Canvas | 36” x-30” inches | 2019
This year two of my paintings will be there which are rather different from each other. One painting is from my new upcoming series ‘Horse in Motion’.

Mumbai CST Intersection II | Watercolor on Paper | 22” x-30” inches | 2019
Another one is on Mumbai CST intersection. This painting depicts the aerial view of the gothic Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus. The mood and atmosphere is of a rainy day. The roads are as busy as always which reflects the Mumbai life in monsoon.
This year’s exhibition will be at Cymroza Art Gallery, 72 Bhulabhai Desai Road, Mumbai 400 026.
From 20 September to 30 September 2019.

Ganesha Painting, Watercolor on Paper
When we remember which festival Mumbai is famous for, it’s one of the biggest Ganesh festivals ever in the heart of Mumbai held every year. Ganesh Visarjan is the last day of Ganesh festival which is quintessentially what Mumbai is all about! On this day Mumbai streets gets fully crowded with people, folk, dance, music and colors. As the sun set by the bay of Arabian sea more and more Ganesh idols are drawn for immersion. In the fading evening light all you can see is the sea full of people and huge idols of Ganesha heading towards the sea.

I’m in Mumbai more than 10 years now. In these passing years I feel the every essence of this beautiful festival. So I was intended to paint the festival but in such a way that captures all the glimpse and vibes together. Girgaum Chowpatty on Marine Drive in South Mumbai has always become one of the prominent immersion points. I love how the visarjan starts one by one and by the end of the day it becomes huge. The enthusiastic people say goodbye with all their energy and the noise becomes quite loud with the beating drums.

So, I feel why not to portray the journey of Ganesh idol on the beach towards sea. Ganesh idols come in all shape and size, as night draws to a close the beach is filled with huge idols of Ganesha everywhere. Mumbai is known to be the city of skyscrapers and the size of Ganesha idols would definitely match them. The crowd fill the air by chanting “Ganapati Bappa Morya!” The Mumbaikars make this festival a feast to the eyes.

Mumbai Ganesh Festival II | Watercolor on Paper | 30” x 45” inches | 2018
These all phenomena I feel behind my ganesha painting. Here in a frame you can see those enthusiastic people playing with lot of colors, filling the air. Huge idols of Ganesha dazzling in the passing evening light while Mumbaikars are bidding goodbye with loud chanting and drums bit to their Lord. Colors are in the atmosphere. The last day of the festival witnessed an emotional farewell to Lord Ganesha by people.
Jaipur Art Camp, Rajasthan
Hello there!
It was an amazing art camp spent in Jaipur last week. And as I am back in Mumbai now I am excited to share them with you. The Art Camp ‘Urban Views’ presented by The Heidelberg Cement – Gallery One Art Retreat was chosen to be held at one of the most luxurious hotel in Jaipur, The Grand Uniara, A Heritage Hotel.

On arrival I was received straight from the airport to the Hotel. For sure the welcome was grand and elegant at its best. This destination in the heart of Jaipur, few distance from the mighty Moti Doongri Hills was itself a charm of Royal entities, rich folk tales & anecdotes unfolded by the antiques, paintings and decor as we roamed everywhere.

This camp became more exciting as we were 10 artists joining from Mumbai, Goa , Belgaum , Kolkata, Hyderabad, Delhi, Jaipur and Nashik as well. The distinctive combination seemed to be fun and thrilling while creating art and revealing new concepts and ideas together. One can imagine how much creativity was flowing in the breeze of every corner of the big corridors while we all artists were painting the canvases with bold and lustrous colors in a sense of making outstanding impressions of thoughts.

Jaipur known as the pink city specially for its quintessential pink tinted architectures. Palaces of Jaipur were built by the royal families uniting story of grandeur and opulence. Once upon a time being Royal residences encircled by lush gardens and courtyards are now museums of royal artifacts.

The arrival day began with the feast to witness the Palace of the Winds, Hawa Mahal at the sunset. It beholds the delicate and mesmerizing glory of Rajput architecture. A bee-hive shaped five-storey palace built around an intricate latticework in red and pink sandstone has near to thousand windows designed to allow royal ladies to observe everyday life and festivals celebrated in the street.

The day before we leave was another splendid and mindful affair when we entered to the Amer Palace. This is an extensive palace made completely of pale yellow sandstone. The massive fort glows beautifully in the soft morning light and looked really majestic as we approached it from afar. Though I visited Amer Palace long before but the glimmering heritage of creativity always enthrals eyes to get hypnotized in the dazzling craftsmanship again and again.

So in all when it comes to Jaipur the appetizing Rajasthani cuisine, heritage architectures of Maharajas, incredible views of the romantic pink city and Royal tale conveyed by antiques, paintings and craftsman ships of the palaces is a sensational rejuvenation to the mind and soul.

I would love to say it was such a splendid tour and paintings in the heart of this unrivaled pink city of Heritage and Royal culture in the uniformity of obsolete and contemporary era. My warm regard to Neeraj Ji, Mr. J. N. Cooper for their diligent initiatives to make this camp happens. My heartiest thanks to Deepak for putting his effort to the fullest in the camp days and all our Artists team, without you the fun and adventure in creativity was not enough to be explored. This Art Camp will remain as one of the most remarkable and splendid experience ever in my artistic journey.
Rajasthan – The Color Ecstasy, Exhibition Video
Rajasthan-The Color Ecstasy, an exhibition of Paintings and Video Installation by ANANTA MANDAL
At Nehru Centre Art Gallery, Mumbai, India
About
In 2012, I visited Rajasthan for all its glory. The cutting edge golden light dazzled me; the colors lured me; the sandy dunes with its curves and patterns entangled with my creative self; the versatile characters of the locales and the indispensable camel enthralled me; the architectural vivacity with unique color regional identity left me spellbound and its rich folk music mesmerizing me.
When I entered, I was a visitor, when I moved around; Rajasthan aroused the artist within me inviting to visit again and again.
Here started my journey to explore the uncanny side of Rajasthan. Rajasthan has kept alive its roots; its colorful traditions; it’s glorious past still gleaming on the faces of sharp featured people with the innocence so rare of now; the color clad women veiled in with the shyness, worn as the grace of womanhood; the children with sparkling curiosity in traditional attire ready to embrace the future. Rajasthan is the unique state filled with color, culture and history.
This exhibition encases the fusion of real and surreal, expressed in a confluence of visual and performing expressions.
