Just if you wonder I would like to share a little history behind this video.
I painted on various locations of Kolkata and Mumbai, later I developed the final artworks in my studio for my Solo Exhibition in Mumbai. My gratitude to Gallery Art & Soul for sponsoring the exhibition.
Concept Note of the Show
”Cities in Motion – Kolkata to Mumbai” is an exhibition of Paintings by Ananta Mandal. In this show he portrays how his artistic journey manifested between these two cities. This is his 15th one man show.
Kolkata and Mumbai, being two different cities away from each other but they both hold one similarity among many, that is both has played a part in making Ananta an Artist today. If Kolkata was his first home Mumbai is definitely the second.
For this show ha has also made a film framing the process of his concepts. His plain air paintings cover old taste of Kolkata and known places of Mumbai after which he develops artworks next in his studio. In all it conveys painting making from Outdoors to Indoor.
So this is how Ananta thought together with these two metropolis an wonderful exhibition can happen. You may also love and connect with the emotion of these two Cities in Motion from Kolkata to Mumbai.

16th Solo Exhibition at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai
Delighted to announce that my 16th solo exhibition is now all set to happen at Jehangir Art Gallery, Kala Ghoda, Mumbai from 18th February and will continue till 24th of February, 2020.
This exhibition named “The Soul Collection” will simply unravel my artistic approach as it propagates with time through various subjects and tones.

View over Mumbai CST, 30” x 45” inches, Watercolor on Paper, 2020
The artwork selection with different colors and tone will transit from hustle and bustle of city life to the absolute beauty of whispering serenity, the gothic architectural forms to the human activities and different festive celebrations of time.

Kolkata Winter, 44” x 36” inches, Acrylic on Canvas, 2019
While the grand Mumbai Ganapati festival is to arise the joyous soul, the beautiful Mumbai city of skyscrapers will go deep beyond its shapes and boundaries in various atmosphere and time. My connection with Kolkata’s enriched locale has found its love and bonding in frames, also to bring the Bengali’s most traditional festival Durga Puja I painted the Sindoor Khela ritual expressing the celebration of femininity.

Horse in Motion II, 22” x 30” inches, Charcoal and Acrylic on Arches Paper, 2019
The versatility stays with my brushes for the prayers and blessings at Varanasi ghats to the devine Ganga in a beaming sunset. And finally a new move for my passionate admiration of Horse, this series in bold strokes of blue, black and earthly tone is to define the masculine anatomy of majestic power, the force of speed and the characteristic expression of Horse.

Invitation Card
Therefore, my honor to have your gracious presence at the exhibition “The collective soul”. Please save the date from 18th to 24th February, 2020 at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai.

Varanasi Ghat, 22” x 30” inches, Watercolor on Paper, 2020
On this new year eve a painting depicting the crowd and colorful life of the Varanasi ghat praying with dia, candles, agarbatti and flowers to the Ganges river in a beaming sunset evening was what really beautiful. It sets the harmony of beginning in its own unique way.
