The city of dreams is a muse to many creative folks. Artist Ananta Mandal expresses his love for Mumbai on canvas.

A solo show at the Jehangir Art Gallery is a dream come true for artists who seek to make their mark in the city. For Ananta Mandal, the city itself became a theme of expression in his 14th solo exhibition. Originally from Kolkata, Mandal believes that Mumbai evokes a sense of belong­ing in him. His paintings express the nuances and the multifac­eted aspects of the city. Cultural and social vignettes, important landmarks, monuments, seasonal specialties and religious fervour-all find a place on his canvas. He makes red, blue and yellow, the three primary colous, flow harmoniously to express the spirit of Mumbai, where diversity exists in a unique way.
